The City and County of Broomfield was created on November 15, 2001 and was formed from Weld County, Adams County, Jefferson County and Boulder County. The county was named from the broomcorn grown in the area.
Broomfield County is bordered by Weld County (northeast), Adams County, Jefferson County (southwest), Boulder County ( northwest).
