Teller County was created on March 23, 1899 and was split from El Paso County and Fremont County . The county was named in honor of Henry Moore Teller, a U.S. Senator from Colorado and United States Secretary of the Interior. The county seat is Cripple Creek.
Teller County is bordered by Douglas County ( north), Jefferson County (north), El Paso County ( east), Fremont County (south), Park County (west).
