Boundary County was created on January 23, 1915 and was formed from Bonner County. The county was named for bordering Canada on the north. The county seat is Bonners Ferry.
Boundary County is bordered by Lincoln County, Montana (east), Bonner County (south), Pend Oreille County, Washington (west), Central Kootenay Regional District, British Columbia (north).
