Franklin County was created on January 20, 1913 and was formed from Oneida County . The county was named for Franklin D. Richards. The county seat is Preston.
Franklin County is bordered by Oneida County (west), Bannock County (northwest), Caribou County (north), Bear Lake County (east), Cache County, Utah (south).
