Minidoka County was created on January 28, 1913 and was formed from Lincoln County . The county was named for disputed Native American origin, either Lakota for "a fountain or spring of water" or Shoshoni for "broad expanse." . The county seat is Rupert.
Minidoka County is bordered by Cassia County (south), Jerome County (west), Lincoln County (west).
