Valley County was created on February 26, 1917 and was formed from Boise County and Idaho County. The county was named for Long Valley. The county seat is Cascade.
Valley County is bordered by Idaho County (north), Adams County (west), Gem County (southwest), Boise County (south), Custer County (east), Lemhi County (east).
