Washington County was created on February 20, 1879 and was formed from Ada County. The county was named for George Washington (1732-1799). The county seat is Weiser.
Washington County is bordered by Adams County (north), Gem County (east), Payette County (south), Malheur County, Oregon (southwest), Baker County, Oregon (west).
