Carroll County, Kentucky

Carroll County lies in the north-central section of Kentucky on the Ohio River at the mouth of the Kentucky River. The eighty-seventh county established, it was formed in 1838 from parts of the adjoining counties of Gallatin, Henry and Trimble. The county seat is CARROLTON; both were named for Charles Carroll of Martland, the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence. Carroll County is Kentucky's third smallest, covering 130 square miles.

The population of Carroll County was 8,523 in 1970, 9,270 in 1980; and 9,292 in 1990. The Official County Government Website is located at http://www.carrollcountygov.us/.
