Magoffin County, the 108th county in order of formation, is in eastern Kentucky. The county was formed on February 22, 1860, from portions of Floyd, Johnson and Morgan counties and named for Gov. Beriah Magoffin (1859-62). SALYERSVILLE is the county seat.

The population of Magoffin County was 10,443 in 1970; 13,515 in 1980; and 13,077 in 1990. The Official County Government Website is located at http://magoffincounty.ky.gov/.
