
McLean County, the 103d in order of formation, is located in the Western Coal Field region traversed by U.S. 431 and KY 136. McLean County was formed from portions of Muhlenberg, Daviess and Ohio counties on January 28, 1854, and named in honor of Alney McLean, veteran of the War of 1812, state representative, and congressman (1835-39). The county seat is CALHOUN.
