Menifee County, Kentucky

Menifee County, the 114th in order of formation, is located in eastern Kentucky in the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau. Menifee County was formed on May 29, 1869, from portions of Powell, Wolfe, Bath, Morgan and Montgomery counties and named in honor of Congressman Richard H. Menefee (with a variation in spelling). The county seat is FRENCHBURG.

The population of Menifee County was 4,050 in 1970; 5,117 in 1980; and 5,092 in 1990. The Official County Government Website is located at http://www.menifeecounty.ky.gov/.
